Holy Disciples Faith Formation Program

Saint John Paul II once said “As the family goes, so goes the world” Following the prophetic voice and the
leadership of a saint and our previous Pope, the vision of our Faith Formation program is: “To transform the
world one family at a time.” Our mission is to help parents respond to the Church’s call to be “the first and
foremost educators of their faith” and help families grow in the transforming love of God by understanding and
living the Catholic Faith (Gravissimum Educationis 3).

The Catholic Church is a treasure-chest of truth, goodness and beauty and it is founded by Christ himself. In the
Catholic Church is where we encounter God in his Word, His Sacraments, and in all the holy men and women
of God who have gone before us, as well as our fellow parishioners. Our Faith Formation program seeks to
touch upon these key aspects of our Catholic faith through monthly classes, family oriented events, such as
Family Friendly Adoration, as well as special service projects that are geared toward our upper grade students.

Our lower grade students, grades 1 through 6, take part in a special family oriented program called Family
Formation. Family Formation is a unique family catechesis program which promotes parents as the primary
educators of their children in the Catholic Faith. The monthly lessons and activities follow the Church’s
Liturgical 3 year cycle. Each family goes through a 3 year liturgical cycle twice, learning and practicing the
rhythm of our Catholic faith at home and through parish life. Meanwhile, the upper grade students begin a more
intentional preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation through monthly classes, service projects and
retreats.

Lastly, at Holy Disciples parish, we believe that “Faith Formation” is a lifelong journey that includes and
extends beyond our monthly classes and other activities and projects provided through the program. We pray
and hope that the knowledge and experience gained though the Faith Formation program will aid and equip
students and their families to boldly and joyously live out the truths of our beautiful Catholic faith.
